In 2013 I started the best and most exciting adventure of my life, parenthood. In July of that year I gave birth to my son in an unplanned, unassited home birth that forever changed the trajectory of my life, and altered how I would view birth and the power of birthing people. Feeling empowered, I began my journey to help others discover the strength that already resides within themselves.
In 2015, I attended Doula training with the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA). My focuses are labor support, postpartum care and lactation education. I have since expanded my services by training in Placenta Encapsulation, Bengkung Belly Binding, and Yoni steaming.
Since then I have gone on to support almost 200 birthing families.
I was born in Montana and, as part of a military family, grew up all over the country. I was fortunate that in my years of travel I was exposed to an array of cultural differences. I grew to deeply love the differences in people and gain a first hand understanding of the importance of compassion and kindness. I attended the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, where I studied music, psychology and religious studies. I went on to get married in 2013. My husband serves in Army, and since then I have found a particular passion for serving fellow military families.
I have done my best to establish myself as an accessible, and available, subject matter expert, and an advocate within within the community. I have a burning enthusiasm for demystifying pregnancy and childbirth.
In 2017, and again in 2018, Artemis Birth and Doula Services was chosen as "Top Doula Services" in Honolulu, Hawaii.
It is so essential to make sure that there is a true connection between a birthing family and their doula. Let’s go get a coffee and have a chat about your goals and how I can help support you, and help you to meet them.
I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have!
